Job Summary

Thriving in the critical intersection of business, technology, and user experience (UX), Aquifer’s product manager serves as a strong central collaborator and critical conduit between our business owners, engineering teams, and customers. Driven to craft the ultimate in educational experiences, the product manager ensures that our comprehensive learning system’s interface, vision, and design consistently set Aquifer apart. Fundamentally, the goals of our product manager are to identify, create, and measure tools and services that our students and educators will use, love, and value.

At Aquifer, the product manager will channel both UX and user interface (UI) design to explore and develop leading-edge product ideas and collaborate to prioritize work for the best possible experiences. The heart of this role centers around problem-solving, translating needs, and simple effective communication. The ideal product manager will have some experience with education as a business, broad technical knowledge throughout the software development lifecycle, and a solid grasp on both user experience and user interface concepts on the forefront of education.  

Reporting to the Director of Product, the product manager is responsible for optimizing the student and educator experiences, gathering and translating stakeholder needs, aligning requirements for curriculum, content, and analytics integration, and creating and maintaining a comprehensive design system.


UI/UX-Centric Product Management:

  • Create excitement based on an up-to-date understanding of emerging technology-supported educational experiences
  • Tell the story from the voice of the customer during design, specification, and development stages
  • Create, manage and advocate for an Aquifer style guide/design system for a cohesive experience 
  • Provide user interface management and expertise across all Aquifer learning system initiatives to ensure consistent execution of Aquifer’s pedagogy and support its brand promise guarantees
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the strategic roadmap, initiatives, and system performance goals

Product Development:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to guide feature development and prioritization
  • Translate user requirements into executable and prioritized work
  • Collaborate across teams to enable successful execution of the established organizational goals, strategies, and operations
  • Learn from Aquifer’s Educator Consortium leadership and internal teams to ensure the delivery of a cutting-edge suite of products and services

Product Success:

  • Take pride in clearly articulating the business value of product capabilities to others
  • Act as product champion internally and externally
  • Track and report key metrics to drive future product development and to prove success
  • Support test planning of new experiences to minimally disrupt ongoing learning
  • Create shared visibility of existing and emerging functionality so everyone is clear on current and forthcoming product capabilities


  • Willingly take ownership of products and projects as assigned, implementing standard project management processes and protocols
  • Recommend improvements to organizational processes and best practices
  • Mentor junior product management staff

Expected Experience and Attributes

  • Demonstrated understanding and implementation of cutting-edge UI/UX principles and practices to support high-quality customer experience and feedback
  • Development and management of component libraries as an extension of style guide/design system rules
  • Product development experience including work with subject matter experts to translate business requirements into functional and technical requirements, and facilitate broad understanding of experiences
  • Active experience throughout the entirety of the software development lifecycle
  • Evidence of success with independent project management within a fast-paced, highly collaborative, virtual team-based environment
